AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - Champion of Champions and League Championship latest

Callum McLean (Caprington) and Graeme Greer (Prestwick St Nicholas) are through to the semi finals of the 2014  Ayrshire Junior Champion Of Champions Trophy competition.

Mclean had a final green victory, by one hole, over his host Callum Gorrie (Kilmarnock Barassie) in his quarter final match, whilst Greer beat John McCracken (Troon St Meddans) by 7 & 6 at St Nicholas.

The remaining quarter final matches, due to be played by 3rd August, are :-

Connor McKay (Loudoun) Vs Neil Stevenson (Ardeer)
Craig McKenzie (Troon Welbeck) Vs Jack Thomas (Irvine)

Kilmarnock (Barassie) and West Kilbride lead the chase for places in the final of the 2014 Ayrshire Junior Golf League Championship, with around half of the fixures in each section now completed.

In Section A, a 4 - 2 away win at Largs and a 5 - 1 home win over Ballochmyle puts Kilmarnock (Barassie) clear at the top of the table.

Despite their defeat by the leaders, Largs maintained their slim hopes with two home wins, by 3.5 - 2.5 over Prestwick St Cuthbert and 4 - 2 over Prestwick St Nicholas, although the St Cuthbert team gained revenge in the corresponding fixture at Prestwick, beating Largs by 4 - 2.

Two home wins, by 3.5 - 2.5 over Ballochmyle and 4.5 - 1.5 over Prestwick St Nicholas, leave West Kilbride as the main challengers to Kilmarnock (Barassie) at the top of the table.

In Section B, Ayr Belleisle are well clear at present. 5.5 - 0.5 homer wins over both Loudoun and Caprington as well as away wins by 4.5 - 1.5 over Irvine and 4 - 2 at Caprington, as well as a 3 - 3 draw at Troon St Meddans make the Ayr club firm favourites to book their place in the championship final.
Defending champions Troon Welbeck recorded a 4 - 2 win in their latest home match against Irvine whilst Loudoun maintained their outside hopes of the championship with a 4.5 - 1.5 home win over the Welbeck team.
