SCOTTISH SENIOR LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP - Glennie loses in matchoplay final

Alex Glennie
Alex Glennie (Kilmarnock Barassie) lost out in the final of the 2014 Scottish Senior Ladies' Championship on Friday afternoon, 4th July, going down by 3 & 1 to Strokeplay Champion Alison Bartlett (Royal Dornoch) who completed a notable double championship win in the process.

In the final match, Glennie was one behind at the turn and an eagle three at the 404 yard tenth by Bartlett increased the deficit to two holes. Glennie won the fourteenth hole to reduce the deficit, but Bartlett secured both the fifteenth and seventeenth to win by 3 & 1.

Despite Glennie's defeat in the final, the week proved to be a successful one for both Glennie and County Vice Captain Liz keohone (Loudoun).

In the Strokeplay Championship on Wednesday 2nd July, Glennie and Keohone both recorded rounds of 77 and 79 to share runner up spot in the championship, just two shots adrift of Alison Bartlett (Royal Dornoch).

In the first round of the matchplay on the morning of Thursday 3rd July,  Liz Keohone beat Sheena McDonald (Milngavie) by 2 & 1 before losing out to 2013 championship runner up Kathleen Sutherland (Montrose) in the afternoon by 4 & 2.

Alex Glennie beat her first round opponent Linda Grieve (Musselburgh) by 3 & 1 on Thursday morning and won through to the semi finals with a 2 hole win over Anne Brownie (Gullane) on Thursday afternoon.

In Friday morning's semi final, Glennie defeated Fiona De Vries (St Rule) by 2 & 1 before going down to Bartlett in the final in the afternoon.
